I just had a messy breakup with my boyfriend and need advice.?

I just went through a messy breakup with my boyfriend today. We were having a good day together and he was happy. He went home for a little while and then came back. When he came back he said that I was not letting him be a part of my life. He said that he thinks we should see other people and that he was sorry. I am confused and wondering what I did wrong. He was happy just hours before and now its like he was completely different.just fyi dating for a year. Has been happy for as long as I can remember. I did not see this coming. Had plans to get engaged.also I am 19 in college going to be going to med school

He may have met someone somewhere, or just got up the guts to tell you. You may not have done anything wrong, although if you did you probably already know what it was.It could also be that he's been invited away for the weekend or something by someone that isn't so into you, so hes broken up so he can go, and then will come crawling back next week.Not much you can do if thats how he feels, so I'd try&move on.
