why have i had my period for a month straight, it's heavy and very painful, am irritable, and have a suddenly overly sensitive sense of smell?

Are you sexually active? You may have miscarried at a very early stage. 50% of pregnancies are miscarried, but we don't realize and we just take it as an irregular period.Also, have you changed any medication habits?

I had this happen and needed a D&C. It was due to having a lot of uterine lining build up due to having irregular periods. Also, fibroids can cause heavy bleeding and/or miscarriage. You really do need to see an GYN as you can loose too much blood.
