They don't have french toast or french fries in France. My girlfriend grew up in Belgium and has been to France alto. They don't even have french dressing. I would say it is a marketing ploy. The french DO have this brown stuff they put on sandwiches called"American sauce" - I am not lying.
FIrst of all these words are used in ever country of the world and not just America. Secondly they are not just called French toast etc without a reason look it up
"French" fries did not come from France. To "french" food means to cut it into long, thin slices (like "Frenched" beans, etc.). So, sliced potatoes are called "Frenched" potatoes (and when fried, they are "Frenched fried potatoes".).
The French do not call a kiss with a tongue a "French Kiss". They call it an "English Kiss". Go figure.
Americans are apparently obsessed with France. So we call just about anything that is novel "French" whether it came from France or not.
American hypocrisy. They pretend to hate the French, but revere things french. French Country home decorating and toiler is a big deal too.
You left out french or praisingNEips (that's what it was first called when white women injected silicone into their lips to make them look like black people's lips).
French culture has influenced a lot of the world, esp. in the areas of fashion and cuisine. Unfortunately there's a lot of derogatory remarks made about the French by Americans, but I think that comes from pure ignorance and xenophobia. The French gave them the Statue of Liberty after all and the 2 countries have always been allies.
Hello I am french.
I don't have the answer but just a small correction about the "french kiss". We don't call it English kiss. In fact it is the first time I hear such a thing. We just call it a kiss.
But be reassured we also have a lot of American things: sauce, sandwiches, and kitchens (that are in fact french!)...
