Kissing with current girlfriend not going well. Advice?

So I'm over 30 and this is the first time in my life I have ever experienced this problem. I've been dating my current girlfriend for about 3 months and we seemingly just cannot get on the same page with french kissing. I've dated a few girls where it took a very short amount of time, then things were fine, but never has something like this happened.

Our first few weeks french kissing was bad, then it got pretty decent and we would even joke about how it was so bad in the beginning, but over the last few weeks to a month it has regressed back to what it was like at the beginning. I even brought it up the other day and my girlfriend was like "yeah, our kissing has regressed". So we tried a few different kisses and talked about what we like and don't like, but it STILL sucks. Now I don't even want to do it, and we hardly do it at all, which feels pretty lame. Maybe it's not that big of a deal, but the idea of not french kissing at all bothers me, and the idea of doing it isn't appealing because it's always awkward.

Any advice? Has anyone else ever gone through something like this?
