Advice on my kissing shyness?

So my boyfriend and I have been going out for about a month now and have kissed only once. We have become very comfortable with each other- holding hands, touching one an others legs, etc. The one time we kissed was about 3 weeks ago and he pulled back and said, "That was awkward". I was kind of embarrassed that he thought I was a bad kisser, but now that I think about it, he was very nervous around me then and probably said that because he was embarrassed. Anyways, there have been many opportunities for me to kiss him since then... I would lie my head on his shoulder and our noses would touch, or even one time he touched my lips sweetly and traced the outline of them with his finger. I don't know why, but I'm just to nervous to kiss him. Any advice?
Oh and by the way, he is my first boyfriend and I'm his first girlfriend- we are both sophomores in high school.

if you are comfortable around him then tell him there is no reason to be nervous
just go for it you both learn and learn to get more into it by experience
