how to know when to kiss her?

today i went on a date with my girlfriend and i tried to kiss her but it was really awkward cause she looked away just as i was about to do it. we did end up kissing but it was just really awkward... i want advice from girls- what are signs that a girl wants to be kissed?
Edit: she didn't look away cause i was trying to kiss her, she was just looking at something and then turned back into the kiss- which is what made it awkward cause it surprised her

when i want to be kissed i find myself subconsciously looking/staring at his lips or i get close to him like in his face

When she is ready to kiss you back.

Sounds like she wasn't ready yet..... That's what I did when I had my first bf and wasn't ready for him to kiss me yet..... I turn my head away. Just give her her time..... If she's not ready, there's nothing you can do about it but wait..... If you rush her into it when she's not ready, it'll be awkward.

She also could have just been nervous. So, I mean, you could always ask her about it! It wouldn't hurt!

she looks at you a lot, she may start to snuggle she just starts to vibe with you, just relax

You would benefit from looking up indicators of interest (IOI's).
Some of which are:

1. she holds eye contact,

2. she scratches her hand, touches her hair

3. you notice her body language is friendly and open as well as leaning or pointing body parts towards you.

4. if she is or has been touching you.

5. if she is cooperative with requests.

6. if she gives you compliments.

7. if she is willing to become isolated with you, (leave with you or even leave friends to be with you)

Hope some of these help you out. If you look up indicators of interest you may find a few more besides these main ones.
