16 and lost :(

I broke up with my ex about 10 months ago, i lost my virginity to him, he and i were deeply in love. The reason i broke up with him is because his best friend told me he would get him to cheast on me, i brought it up to Clay (my ex) and he really didn't help it, he said "ignore it". "i wouldn't even do that, so don't worry", he immediately stopped cotact when i broke up with him. Every few months he's called me or texted me randomly, what does this mean? I really love him, he's my first love, but i haven't moved on, because i genuinely love him, and hold onto hope, stayin positive but never moving on to another guy, when i do, i just can't. He hasn't dated anyone else at all either... the other day i texted him, he said "I'd prefer to not talk to you".... WHAT DO I DO? PLEASE SOME ADIVICE...
