Why Love Stories Always Ends in Tragedy?

Ok, My best friend just broke up. It occurs to me that most great love stories always ends in tragedy. Be it in literature or even mainstream movies. I'm just wondering, is there such a thing as a happy ending love story? for once in our lives, just write something happy. How about it folks, can you name any happy ending love stories, and why love always ends in tragedy?

Love stories end in tragedies because love is just an illusion to dull the pain of reality... It's just life.

Don't look at fictional love. Look at real love.Look at people who have been married for many years, and grow old together.Typically, someone dies and leaves the other alone.

If the endings were happy, the stories would be boring. There has to be some major conflict with the characters'desires in order for the stories to be interesting.
